Prepare & Serve Espresso Coffee is the nationally recognised barista qualification (unit SITHFAB025) — blended online theory plus a hands-on practical session at the Di Pacci academy in Roselands, finishing with a Statement of Attainment.

This is the credential cafés look for. You'll learn to prepare and serve the full espresso menu to a commercial standard, then be formally assessed by qualified trainers. Complete the online knowledge assessments first, then join us in person to put it all into practice on real commercial equipment.

Nationally Recognised SITHFAB025 Blended learning 5-hour practical Statement of Attainment
Prerequisite: Unit SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety must be completed before the practical session — you'll need to provide evidence. You can gain this through our Food Safety Supervisor course.
Blended delivery: online theory first, then an in-person practical at Roselands. Once you enrol, we'll confirm your practical session date by email.

What you'll learn

Espresso extraction

Grinding, dosing, tamping and extracting balanced espresso to a commercial standard.

Milk texturing

Steaming and texturing milk for the full range of espresso-based drinks.

The full coffee menu

Prepare and serve a minimum of 30 espresso beverages across the standard café menu.

Machine operation & care

Operating, cleaning and maintaining commercial espresso machines and grinders.

Open & close procedures

Setting up and shutting down the coffee station the way a working café does.

Food safety & workflow

Safe, hygienic practice and efficient service workflow in a commercial environment.

How the course works

A straightforward blended pathway from enrolment to your Statement of Attainment:

  • Complete SITXFSA005 first

    Have your food safety unit done and ready — it's the prerequisite for the practical. Our Food Safety Supervisor course covers it.

  • Online theory & knowledge assessments

    Work through the online learning and complete the knowledge assessments before your practical day.

  • 5-hour practical session

    Join us at Roselands to prepare and serve a minimum of 30 espresso beverages on commercial equipment — including a roasting facility tour and coffee tasting.

  • Practical assessment & Statement of Attainment

    Qualified trainers assess you in a workplace-style setting. On successful completion you receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB025.
